Good morning,
I am honoured if you are reading this text. Please, do read on, as far as your interest may take you.
The website has been online since 2006; this version reflects my current views on the issues I consider important. This subpage sets out the principles Strony.
The site is primarily, though not exclusively, scientific in nature. I strive to speak from a scientific stance as my foundation. However, a purely technocratic approach should not be expected. Believing I have something important to say, I share relevant content. Discourse, education, shaping a better world, and especially the systems for managing this world – these are what intrigue and motivate me. The language of the site and its publications is quite specific, characteristic of the issues discussed. The mark of scientificity precludes journalism, populism, emotionality or unrestrained creativity.
Menu Strony The site menu contains two sets of subpages. The first is located in the top bar. It includes introductory subpages presenting the author, as well as the Blog (Sedno – Core) and Contact subpages. The Sedno Blog (This Might Hit Home – blog) posits that our attitude towards reality is a result of the interplay between personal factors and the development of our environment. This menu presents my views on selected topics. I focus particularly on the environment and issues of broader significance, not only within our country.
The bottom menu bar contains only subpages featuring my academic work. The vast majority of these have been peer-reviewed and published; where this is not the case, I have indicated so. This bar leads to the following subpages: The Law of Economic Surplus; Management Science; Management Systems; Political Management; Strategic Management; Human Capital Management; Management Science Methodology. In these fields, I present two sets of texts: 1) texts in book form, book chapters and articles; 2) unpublished texts. The only exception is the ‘Political Management’ subpage – this will (for the time being) contain unpublished texts, so not all of them will meet the criteria for academic rigour.
The menu includes a presentation of my academic work, which consists either of a new edition of texts previously published by other publishers, or of original research and editing. In the latter case, despite the absence of peer review, I endeavour to maintain academic standards. You will also find a list of my major publications here, and some texts can be downloaded (with the publisher’s permission). Management science focuses on issues concerning the identity of this discipline. Management systems attempt to explain their nature and identify the conditions for effectiveness. Political management is its highest and leading level (primus inter pares) – constituting, together with strategic, tactical and operational management, a multi-level management system. Strategic management is the central issue in running any functioning system, which I endeavour to express. Human capital management emphasises that the human factor is the most important in any activity. However, it is complex in every respect, functionally and structurally intertwined. Management methodology is not merely a set of management methods and techniques – it is a complex subsystem of interrelationships between managing entities and managed entities. The foundation of methodology lies in methodological assumptions (methodological doctrine) and language – in all its diversity (semiotics) – starting with concepts and definitions.
The full text of my works available on the website can be found by clicking the ‘Download’ button. In other cases, I refer to the materials at my disposal. References such as [more][download][link to publisher’s website], etc., depend on whether it is feasible to provide readers with the text of the work itself. Where this is not possible, only a link to the publisher’s website or a description of the citation rules is provided. As I am unable to provide the full work, I make available a description of it in accordance with the accepted standard [more]. Occasionally, the [download] link will include the Introduction, Table of Contents and the first chapter of the work, among other things.
